Reaching out to non-believers in their own territory usually takes 2 things: Time & Money.
Time spent in the bars, coffee shops, parks, businesses, streets, and homes meeting and talking with those whom the Lord brings our way. Also teaching Bible studies, holding coaching sessions, gathering for worship and sharing, having small group meetings, and the like. This is making disciples and planting churches - and if I have a full-time job I won't have the time I need to invest in planting churches in SE Denver.
The money part is a tough one, because we have seen giving and spending often abused in traditional Christian circles. I do not want my life or ministry to revolve around money - I want it to revolve around Jesus and the Power and Life of the Holy Spirit. However, the basic business of living here in the U.S. requires money - for clothing, eating, and paying the rent - not to mention for evangelism materials and paying the bar-tab when bar-hopping for Jesus.
Because of the these needs, we have searched the New Testament and found a pattern for the support of Apostolic workers that is both honoring to God and fair to His people.
1. Apostolic Workers (those sent by God to plant churches in a particular area) are to be supported financially by the church. Ask the Lord if He would have you or your church family to support me in this work (The answer could be yes, or could be no!).
2. If you feel the Lord asking you to support me in this work, then how much you give is between you and the Lord - so ask the Lord how much He would have you or your family or church family to give - be it 5$ per month, or 5,000$ per month.
3. It is my job to trust the Lord fully & completely for my provision and the provision of my family. He will lead certain parties to give and will tell them how much - and He will make sure my family is clothed, fed, and sheltered as He leads.
Please contact me if you feel the Lord is leading you to support me in this work. Sean - 303.523.2315 - sean_hyatt@msn.com.
